In an effort to better serve our community O’Leary’s Restaurant Group is proud to offer the following fundraising opportunities to your school or organization:
Gift Card Sales
O’Leary’s or Tapa La Luna will offer gift cards at a 12% discount. This gives families an opportunity to visit the restaurants at their convenience. You can choose to participate with either restaurant or both of them as you see fit to best serve the needs of your particular organization.
* Arrangements must be made at least 30 days prior to this event through Debbie Witmer at 815-748-0000.
* Your organization will purchase the gift cards at the discounted rate.
* Your organization will sell the gift cards at full face value.
* You keep the difference in the money.
Restaurant Fundraising Night
* O’Leary’s or Tapa La Luna will donate 15% of all food sales from customers bringing in a coupon from the organization on a set date between the hours of 4:00-9:00. Again you can choose one particular restaurant or both of them for this event.
* Arrangements must be made at least 30 days in advance through Debbie Witmer at 815-748-0000.
* O’Leary’s Restaurant Group will provide your organization with a master copy of the coupon for the event.
* Your organization is responsible for the reproduction and distribution of the coupon and advertisement of your event.
* Your members will dine at one or either location on the given day and give the coupon to their server.
* O’Leary’s Restaurant Group will distribute a check to your organization within 10 working days for the 15% donation.
Remember O’Leary’s has a beautiful banquet room to fit your needs as well as full catering services!

What are tapas?

According to legend, the tapa tradition began when Castile’s King Alfonso the Wise recovered from an illness by drinking wine and nibbling small dishes between meals. After regaining his health, the king ordered taverns to serve their guests food along with wine and the tapas became a kind of loophole in the law to allow drinkers to imbibe alcohol.
The original tapas were the slices of bread or meat which sherry drinkers in Andalusian taverns used to cover their glasses between sips. This was a practical measure meant to prevent fruit flies from hovering over the sweet sherry. The meat used to cover the sherry was normally ham or chorizo, which are both very salty and activate thirst. Because of this, bartenders and restaurant owners began creating a variety of snacks to serve with sherry, thus increasing their alcohol sales. Soon the lowly tapa (from tapa derived the verb tapar, “to cover”) became as important as the sherry.
Tapas evolved over Spain’s history through the incorporation of ingredients and influences from many different cultures and countries.
